Privacy
PixelPeek privacy policy
PixelPeek is a browser extension that helps designers and developers inspect web pages. This policy explains what it does with information. The short version: PixelPeek works inside your browser and does not collect, send or sell your data.
What PixelPeek reads
When you click the PixelPeek icon, it reads the page in the current tab: the structure, styles, colours, fonts, images and stylesheets of that page. It does this only on the tab where you clicked the icon, and only until you press Esc or click the icon again. This information is processed on your computer to show you values, build Figma layers, and create exports.
What PixelPeek stores
PixelPeek stores a small amount of data on your own computer, using the browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.local):
- the elements you choose to save to your Saved library (selector, size, text, colours and code snippets), and
- your preferences, such as where you left the floating pill and the panel.
You can remove saved elements at any time from the Saved view, or by removing the extension.
What PixelPeek sends
Nothing is sent to PixelPeek or to any server run by the developer. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Some features load files from the page you are inspecting, in the same way the page itself loads them: for example, downloading an image or font so it can be saved, embedding an image in Figma layers, or saving the page as an HTML file. These requests go to that website's own servers. Their content stays on your computer.
Clipboard and downloads
PixelPeek writes to your clipboard only when you ask it to copy something (for example, "Copy as Figma layers" or a colour value). Files you download are saved by your browser to your computer.
Permissions
- activeTab and scripting: to run PixelPeek on the tab where you click its icon.
- storage: to keep your saved elements and preferences on your computer.
- debugger: used only while you have a phone or tablet preview open in the Responsive preview. It sets a phone or tablet user agent and touch input on that tab, the same two switches as Chrome's device toolbar, so the site shows its mobile version. It is turned off when you close the preview. PixelPeek does not use it to read, record or send anything. While it is on, Chrome shows its own notice that the browser is being debugged.
PixelPeek asks for no access to all websites and runs no remote code.
Children
PixelPeek is a professional tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
